WORKSHOP D: MERGING INNOVATIVE AND TRADITIONAL: A MARKETING AND PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT APPROACH FOR TODAY’S CARD BUSINESS

Moderator: Michael Archer, Partner, Global Financial Services, KURT SALMON
Workshop Leader: Michele Orndorff, Senior Manager, KURT SALMON

Profits at all the major card issuers are up, but driven by the reduction in loan loss provisions, not by increases in revenue.  Now, the banks need to build back sales, receivables, and number of accounts. In this workshop, attendees will address:

  • New product development, supporting proof-of-concept activities, and shortening time to market
  • Addressing technical challenges associated with new technologies and payment forms including e-wallets, mobile devices, and attendant systems and software
  • Advising the participants in strategic mCommerce and eCommerce alliances
  • Incorporating and maximizing the efficacy of social networks and other venues to acquire and manage profitable payments portfolios
  • Stimulating new customer acquisition, usage, and cross-sell
  • Growing payment receivables and customers through cross-organizational asset leverage e.g. branch, on-line, corporate, and other institutional channels and relationships

KEY TAKEAWAY:  This workshop will demonstrate how to merge tried and true techniques with innovation in marketing (e.g. social, digital media), innovation in product (e.g. mobile, chip/ EMV, loyalty), and innovation in portfolio management (e.g. pricing, risk, information & data management).
