WORKSHOP D: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT EMV

Moderator: Catherine Johnston, President & CEO, ACT CANADA
Nigel Codrington, CEO, FICS CONSULTING
Oliver Manahan, Vice President of Emerging Payments, MASTERCARD

The widespread adoption of smart cards in the U.S. is finally gaining traction, indicating a desire to offer the greater security of smart cards and align itself with the rest of the world. Major networks have announced their EMV guidelines and deadlines and a handful of U.S. issuers are piloting EMV chip cards. Given that EMV migration will impact all constituents in the payments value chain, migration is not a simple transition.  In this workshop, you’ll hear about the initial steps card issuers and ATM deployers will need to take to ease their EMV migration, including:

  • Evaluating the business impact of your re-issuing strategy
  • Understanding the technology enhancements of smart card
  • Key items to communicate to your customers
  • Issues experienced in previous rollouts in Canada and Europe
