EMV migration is heating up, with Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover all setting timelines for most merchants to accept EMV cards by October 2015. But the discussion on EMV migration holds particular urgency in the wake of one of the largest ever security breaches—Target’s December 2013 debit and credit card data theft, which has reportedly affected 70-100 million of its customers.
