Flint Brings Its Mobile-Pay App to the iPhone App Store

PaymentsSource | Friday, November 16, 2012

Flint Mobile Inc. announced today that its mobile card-acceptance app is available to on Apple Inc.'s app store.

The app, which was previously available only to beta users, allows merchants to accept payments by scanning card details with a phone's camera. It also provides social marketing tools to allow end users to post testimonials on Facebook.

"We've worked very closely with our beta users to develop a compelling app and are excited to make it available to a broader audience," said Greg Goldfarb, co-founder and CEO of Flint Mobile, in a press release Nov. 16.

PayPal Inc.'s Here app similarly allows card details to be read through a phone's camera, though it also allows users to swipe cards through an add-on reader. Flint plays up the absence of such an add-on, or dongle, as a selling point.

"I have tried many other mobile payments apps, but between getting rid of the dongle and making it very easy to customize messaging to my customers right from the phone, Flint has become my preferred debit/credit card processing solution," said Aaron Potratz, a licensed professional counselor in Beaverton, Ore., in Flint's press release.
