VeriFone Adds Mobile Payment Products for iPad mini, iPhone 5

PaymentsSource | Monday, January 14, 2013

VeriFone Systems announced Jan. 14 a suite of payment products, including an iPad mini version of its Payware Mobile card reader, a similar sleeve for the iPhone 5 and VeriFone HQ, a cloud-based system that allows retailers to monitor their terminals and manage their brands.

The San Jose terminal maker debuted the new items this week at the National Retail Federation’s annual conference in New York.

“VeriFone is enabling retailers to enrich their relationship with the consumer by providing the latest in mobile technology and services needed to untether themselves from the checkout counter, deploy mobility, reduce payments and infrastructure complexity, and impress their customers with new content and new experiences,” said Jennifer Miles, VeriFone’s executive vice president in charge of North America, in a press release.

VeriFone recently abandoned the direct-to-merchants sales strategy of its Square-competitor Sail, a product that provides a similar approach to card acceptance as its Payware Mobile line of products. Sail launched in Spring 2012.
