Chief Emerging Payments Officer
Edward McLaughlin is Chief Emerging Payments Officer. In this role, he is responsible for leading the development and commercialization of payment product platforms and solutions around the globe that create a sustainable competitive advantage for MasterCard and its customers. Emerging Payments consists of MasterCards products and solutions in the areas of e-Commerce, Mobile, P2P, PayPass/Transit, inControl, Bill Payment, Chip, and the Mobile Payment Solutions (Smart Hub) joint venture.
Previously, Mr. McLaughlin was group executive for Franchise Development and Compliance. In this role, he was responsible for the MasterCard Global Rules, Licensing, Brand Standards and Compliance Programs.
Mr. McLaughlin joined MasterCard in 2005 as group head, Bill Payment and Healthcare in the Global Product group. In this role, he managed the MasterCard RPPS electronic bill payment network, card-based bill payment products, and MasterCard specialty healthcare products and services.
Prior to joining MasterCard, Mr. McLaughlin served as group vice president, Product and Strategy at Metavante, a financial services technology company. The Metavante payments group included issuing and acquiring processing services, prepaid program management, the NYCE regional debit network, ACH processing, card production and other payment processing services.
Mr. McLaughlin joined Metavante in 2002 through their acquisition of Paytrust, an online payments company where he served as a cofounder and CEO. Business partners and investors in Paytrust included Citibank, American Express, Capital One, and Goldman Sachs. Prior to co-founding Paytrust, Mr. McLaughlin was the executive vice president of marketing at LogicWorks, Inc., a data modeling software company. LogicWorks issued its initial public offering on the NASDAQ exchange in October, 1995 [LGWX].
Mr. McLaughlin is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Business.
