Jorge Ortega
Senior Director, Global Financial Inclusion, Visa

Jorge Ortega is Senior Director – Global Financial Inclusion for Visa Inc., he is responsible for setting the strategic direction and execution of our Financial Inclusion initiatives in key markets throughout the world.

He is also leading our Small Enterprise Inclusion strategy and responsible of developing relationships with diverse partners to increasing adoption and usage financial services amongst micro and small merchants.

Under his leadership and by working collaboratively with both public and private sector he is developing novel and unique programs to enable micro and small merchants to participate in the digital economy in a sustainable and scalable way. The end goal is to promote transparency, efficiency and broader economic development across the region and empower small entrepreneurs.

For more than a decade, Jorge led the implementation of projects that helped expand Visa’s acceptance across different industries - retail, airline, hospitality, department stores, etc. His experience includes program activation and implementation of diverse point of sale technologies for both traditional and emerging merchant segments, cross border programs, co-branding and expand access initiatives. Before joining Visa, Jorge spent more than 10 years in consumer marketing with consumer good electronics companies in Mexico and Canada

Jorge has a degree in Marketing from the institute TEC de Monterrey and an MBA from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM).
