Michael Mattone1

Michael Mattone is the Vice President of Public Relations at New York’s Municipal Credit Union (MCU). MCU, the oldest credit union in New York State and one of the oldest and largest credit unions in the country, has more than 420,000 members and over $2.6 billion in assets.

Mr. Mattone has been at MCU since 2008, joining the credit union as a Marketing Research Assistant. After building a successful Marketing Research and Analytics program for the Credit Union, Michael transitioned roles to Corporate Communications, where he was tasked with developing all external communications pieces for the institution, and was named Assistant Vice President in 2012. In his current role as Vice President of Public Relations, Mr. Mattone oversees the entire institution’s Public Relations, corporate communications, social media networks, corporate social responsibility, and marketing research programs. He has also managed MCU’s industry affairs since 2011, and is the Credit Union’s primary legislative advocate.

In 2014, Mr. Mattone was appointed to the New York State Credit Union Association’s (NYCUA) Young Professionals Commission, and is currently the Commission’s Chair. He also is on the Board of the NYCUA’s Credit Union Political Action Committee (CUPAC), is the New York State Trustee for CUNA’s Credit Union Legislative Action Committee (CULAC) and is a committee member of the NYCUA’s Metropolitan Chapter Council. In June of 2017, Mattone was named the New York Credit Union Outstanding Young Professional by the NYCUA.

Mr. Mattone, a resident of Yorktown Heights, NY, was born and raised on Long Island, and earned his Executive Master’s of Science in Finance from Baruch College in New York City in May of 2017, graduating with a 4.0 GPA. He received his Bachelors of Business Administration from Pace University in Pleasantville, New York in 2007. While at Pace, Mr. Mattone was a four – year letter winner and co-captain of the Pace University Football team, and was the President of the Student Athletic Advisory Council (SAAC). Prior to joining Municipal Credit Union, Mattone was at Ogilvy & Mather as a Creative Copywriting Intern in their Healthcare Division.
