Airtag has added PayPal as a payment option for consumers using the KFC Fast Track mobile wallet to order and purchase food in advance at the fast food chain’s U.K. restaurants.

Airtag provides the mobile shopping technology for the KFC mobile wallet, which KFC U.K. & Ireland launched in April.

Now, Fast Track users can login and checkout with PayPal, making the transaction even faster and easier, Airtag states in a Dec. 3 press release.

With the new features, KFC customers can create a Fast Track account using their existing PayPal account details by simply entering their username and password, Airtag says.

Users bypass having to enter personal and bank or card details because, like any PayPal transaction, information is stored securely within their PayPal account.

“With the majority of mobile and online commerce traffic being lost during login and check-out processes, we are very excited to work with PayPal to provide KFC customers with faster alternatives that streamline the customer experience,” Jérémie Leroyer, CEO and co-founder of Airtag, states in the release.

PayPal’s research indicates a third of people would choose their smartphone over their wallet when leaving home, while 80% wish they could leave their wallet at home, Rob Harper, head of retail services at PayPal UK, states in the release.

“We predict that by 2016 you won’t need your wallet to pay on the UK high street — your smartphone will be enough,” Harper adds.

Paris-based Airtag has focused on white labeling a mobile payments system for the fast-food industry, while also developing mobile wallets for financial institutions.
