Alliance Data Systems Corp. yesterday reported a 9.9% fourth-quarter revenue increase in its Private Label Services segment, to $97.6 million from $88.8 million during the same time period in 2007. The segment includes network processing and marketing for Dallas-based Alliance Data's more than 100 private-label and cobranded card programs. The transaction processor's Private Label Credit segment posted revenue of $171.4 million for the quarter, an 11.8% decline from $194.3 million a year earlier. Overall net income increased 53.1%, to $51.9 million from $33.9 million. Total revenue decreased 2.8 %, to $507.6 million from $522 million. Alliance Data signed 10 additional clients to its card segments in 2008, J. Michael Parks, CEO, said yesterday during a conference call. He described the year as "record" in terms of new client signings and renewals. Last month, Alliance Data announced a multiyear agreement to provide cobranded and private-label credit card services for HSN Inc., an online, catalog, television and brick-and-mortar retailer.
