The Seattle online retailer Amazon.com Inc. now offers Bill Me Later Inc.'s instant credit system as a payment option.
Amazon.com announced in December that it was buying a minority stake in the Timonium, Md., payment company and would offer its payment system to customers. The retailer began offering Bill Me Later on June 30.
Bill Me Later offers instant approval for single purchases, by using a shopper's birth date and the last four digits of the shopper's Social Security number in combination with other information provided by the retailer to make a credit decision.
Amazon.com says it has integrated Bill Me Later with its One-Click streamlined checkout system, so those who have previously been approved by Bill Me Later can use the system without going through the full checkout process again
