Amazon is giving its Prime members another channel for spending with a service for teenagers to do their own shopping on a household account, subject to parental review.
Amazon for Teens is designed for youths from 13 to 17 and includes an option to permit purchases under a pre-set spending limit instead of approving specific items, Amazon said in a Wednesday announcement.
Parents may send a text or email invitation to teens to sign up or teens may send a request to their parents. Teens get their own login and password connected to the parents’ Prime account, and parents confirm the payment method and shipping address the teen will use.
Teen order details are sent to parents via text or email, and parents can approve with a Y or decline orders within their account. The service includes a field for comments. Both teens and parents are notified of the estimated delivery date, Amazon said.
