American Express Global Business Travel has named former Hertz executive Elyes Mrad as managing director of its Europe, Middle East and Africa region.
Mrad will oversee company operations in the region, based in London. He will also be responsible for developing retention and acquisition strategies. Mrad will report to Bill Glenn, the division's president and chief executive.
"Elyes has a wealth of experience serving the needs of multi-cultural operations from some of the most respected brands in the world," Glenn said in a Dec. 1 press release.
At Hertz International, Mrad was a senior vice president of sales and marketing. He has also held executive posts with Japan Tobacco International in Tokyo and Rolex in Geneva.
Amex spun off its business travel unit in July, forming a joint venture with Certares, a New York-based investment firm run by managers with travel industry experience.
