Apriva is offering training and educational tools to its independent sales organization resellers to help increase their knowledge of and ability to sell wireless smartphone-enabled point-of-sale products, according to the Scottsdale, Ariz.-based wireless-payments provider.

Ideally, the training will help ISOs focus on the potential business problems wireless smartphone-based POS products can help merchants solve instead of the technical aspects of how the technology works, Bill Ramsey, Apriva vice president of business development, tells PaymentsSource at the Electronic Transactions Association’s Annual Meeting and Expo in Las Vegas.

The program, called the AprivaPay Partnership Program, is free to Apriva’s resellers, he says.

Burgeoning smartphone-based software and hardware that enable merchants to accept card payments using their mobile devices is “new and intimidating,” not only to merchants but also to some ISOs, Ramsey says. “We want [ISOs] to sell confidently,” and the educational program is a “cheat sheet for how to sell Apriva” smartphone-based POS products, he says.

The educational program addresses AprivaPay, a browser-based application that enables card transactions, and AprivaPay Professional, a downloadable transaction application merchants may combine with an optional printer and magnetic-stripe card reader.

ISOs that take advantage of the educational program have access to Web seminars, mobile-enabled product videos, presentations, and merchant marketing materials that can be cobranded with Apriva’s information and that of the ISO.
