Bangladesh-based City Bank has launched two American Express-branded credit cards, both a Gold and a traditional version, the bank announced last week. The two companies have inked an alliance in which the bank is responsible for all card operations, a bank official tells CardLine Global. "This would include billing and accounting, customer service, credit management, charge authorizations and marketing," he adds. "In addition, City Bank will be the exclusive merchant acquirer for American Express" in Bangladesh, says the official. For the launch, the bank is offering promotional discounts and privileges to the AmEx cardholders. These include a complimentary return ticket from Jet Airways to Kolkata (India), return Mercedes-Benz coach tickets to Cox's Bazar (a famous beach), and 6% cash back on shopping at select stores. City Bank has 84 branches and deploys 300 ATMs across the country, according to the bank.
