Blackhawk Network has reached an agreement with the U.S. Postal Service to distribute its closed-loop gift cards through post offices.

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Under the agreement, certain post offices across the country will offer Blackhawk's store-specific gift cards. Blackhawk, of Pleasanton, Calif., expects to expand its post office distribution network in the coming year, and may also add open-loop gift cards from a variety of payment networks.

"Consumers frantic with holiday stress will now have an easy, convenient opportunity to buy their holiday gift cards while providing a new top-line source of revenue for the USPS," said Tallbott Roche, Blackhawk's president, in a Dec. 9 press release.

The news of the partnership comes on the heels of Blackhawk's recent acquisition of Parago, a consumer engagement firm in Dallas. The company also recently bought CardLab, a business rewards and prepaid card provider.
