Cardtronics, Inc., the world's ISO in terms of ATMs managed and owned, is teaming with GE Money to deploy ATMs inside theme parks Universal
Hollywood and Universal Orlando, the two companies announced this week.
"The agreement represents possibly Cardtronics' highest profile foray into the
entertainment and event market," Tony Muscarello, Cardtronics senior vice president
of sales, said in an e-mail message to ATM&Debit News.
Some 16 million tourists visit the theme parks annually, and Cardtronics will use a
variety of NCR Corp. ATMs to meet the challenge, Muscarello says.
"We have chosen to deploy a number of different NCR ATM models that are
equipped with state-of-the art software and have cassette capacity to handle very
high-transaction models," he says.
Under a seven-year agreement, Cardtronics will deploy 25 ATMs in both
theme parks combined. Cardtronics also will deploy the ATMs in the entertainment
districts, including CityWalk, outside the theme parks, Muscarello says.
GE Money's name will appear on the ATMs, but Cardtronics will own them. GE
Money, a unit of General Electric Co., provides retail banking and credit services to
consumers. Houston-based Cardtronics manages or owns 32,600 ATMs in the
United States. Cardtronics owns Cardtronics Mexico and Bank Machine in
the United Kingdom.
