Cardtronics Inc. has signed an exclusive agreement with Royal Buying Group Inc., a marketer for nearly 6,000 companies in 50 states. Royal Buying Group will recommend to its members they purchase ATMs from Houston-based Cardtronics. Franco Turrinelli, an analyst with Chicago-based William Blair & Co., says the agreement is good for Cardtronics because it counters the turmoil within the banking industry that has made it difficult for Cardtronics to sign new bank-branding agreements. "We view this recent announcement as one type of an agreement the company will be able to reach with large groups or associations to expand its national footprint and create a more attractive portfolio of ATM locations for future branding opportunities," Turrinelli writes. Lisle, Ill.-based Royal Buying Group's members include convenience stores, gas stations, college bookstores and truck stops, Turrinelli says.
