Cardtronics Inc., a Houston-based independent sales organization, has reached an agreement to deploy ATMs in a Puerto Rico-based supermarket chain, both companies announced today. Cardtronics signed a five-year agreement with Supermercados Grande, a 40-year-old chain that operates 30 stores in Puerto Rico. Cardtronics will place the ATMs in nine Supermercados Grande supermarkets during the fourth quarter, both companies say. The Supermercados agreement is the second deal Cardtronics has signed with a retailer based in Puerto Rico. In August, the ISO announced an agreement to install ATMs in 11 of 26 locations operated by To Go Stores, a convenience-store chain based in San Juan. Cardtronics will install machines in the remaining 15 stores in 2010. Cardtronics is expanding its international presence. Besides deploying ATMs in the United States, it has ATMs deployed in the United Kingdom, Mexico and Puerto Rico. The ISO operates more than 33,100 ATMs.
