Independent sales organization Cardtronics Inc. is teaming with GE Money to deploy ATMs inside the Universal Hollywood and Universal Orlando theme parks, the companies announced last week. The agreement represents Cardtronics' highest-profile foray into the entertainment and event market, according to Tony Muscarello, Cardtronics senior vice president of sales. Some 16 million tourists visit the theme parks annually, and Houston-based Cardtronics will deploy a variety of ATMs to meet the challenge, Muscarello tells ATM&Debit News, a CardLine sister publication. "We have chosen to deploy a number of different NCR ATM models that are equipped with state-of-the art software and have cassette capacity to handle very high transaction models," he says. Under the seven-year agreement, Cardtronics will deploy a combined 25 ATMs in both theme parks and in the entertainment districts, including CityWalk, outside the parks, Muscarello says. GE Money's name will appear on the ATMs as part of a branding agreement, but Cardtronics will own the machines.
