Citigroup Inc.’s ThankYou Network rewards program last week announced an Earth Day-themed promotion enabling its members to win free music downloads from Sony Music Entertainment.

In commemoration of Earth Day’s 40th anniversary on April 22, Citi is inviting its 12 million ThankYou Network members each to submit to its Web site a “Playlist for Earth,” a list of songs inspired by Earth Day drawn from recordings within Sony’s music catalog. The first 500 ThankYou Network members to submit a list will receive five free songs.

Throughout April and May, ThankYou Network will post on its Web site selected playlists and members’ statements about what inspired them to choose their songs. The deadline for entry is April 30.

Citi recently expanded its rewards offerings through an agreement with Sony, enabling ThankYou Network members to redeem one Sony song for every 100 reward points they earn. Members may earn points through various Citi banking activities, including credit card use, shopping online and booking travel.

Members may redeem rewards for a wide array of merchandise, travel, gift cards and cash. Citi launched ThankYou Network in 2004.
