Clinkle Corp., a San Francisco startup that specializes in mobile transactions, has appointed Josh Brewer as its vice president of design.
Brewer, who brings to Clinkle over 10 years of design experience, will be responsible for new product design and development. Most recently he was the principal designer at Twitter, where he worked on a number of key design initiatives, including the redesign of Twitter across mobile, Web and tablet. Prior to Twitter, Brewer was director of user experience at Socialcast, an enterprise social network, and held creative positions at SuggestionBox.com and Slacker.
Brewer has "a strong understanding of technology and strategy that makes his skill set unique, says Clinkles CEO Lucas Duplan in a March 5 press release.
Brewer is the fifth senior-level hire since October 2013 when the former chief financial officer of Netflix, Barry McCarthy, joined the firm as chief operating officer; Andy Rendich as chief service and operational officer; Allison Hopkins as chief talent officer; and Mike Liberatore as chief financial officer.
The new executive team is currently working to introduce a mobile wallet for day-to-day transactions this year, according to the release.
Blending engineering and design is very important "during this period of forward momentum in the mobile payments industry, Brewer says in the release.
