Commonwealth Bank digital vet will lead Australia's Beem It P2P service
Australian bank-supported digital wallet and P2P service Beem It has named Commonwealth Bank executive Angela Clark as CEO.
Clark takes the lead role at Beem It, which launched in May and has the backing of National Australia Bank, Westpac and Commonwealth Bank.
Beem It's P2P system allows its users to "focus on the experience itself, rather than the payment," Clark said in a Tuesday press release.
The banks established Beem It in February to deliver the payments option through a dedicated app available to all Australians agnostic of their bank relationship. Beem It is targeting use cases such as group payments, charitable contributions, or micro merchants such as babysitting or dog walking. The service has found traction with a variety of age groups, according to Beem It.
Clark's experience spans multiple products and customer segments, including payments and financial services, and digital and traditional media such as advertising, broadcasting and radio.
She has led companies as a founding CEO, founded her own ventures, and led transformations of divisions and customer strategy within large organizations.
In 2017, Clark joined Commonwealth Bank to lead the small-business segment for the retail bank as an executive general manager. She was part of an executive team comprising members across the banks that spearheaded the founding of the Beem It digital wallet.
