Right on the heels of providing technology for the Dunkin’ Donuts mobile payment app, CorFire has bolstered its mobile commerce offerings through a partnership with PayPal Inc.
Atlanta-based CorFire, a U.S. subsidiary of SK C&C of South Korea, will incorporate PayPal’s Mobile Express Checkout, PayPal Here and other services for its retailer clients, with a focus on those operating fast-food restaurants, convenience stores and gas stations, CorFire announced Dec. 13.
In addition, CorFire says it will work with PayPal to bring large merchants their services. These include mobile closed-loop cards, offers and loyalty programs integrated into PayPal's mobile app.
PayPal’s mobile express checkout system streamlines customer payment and checkout on mobile devices, CorFire says. PayPal Here allows consumers to check in at merchant stores with their smartphone and pay at the point of sale using their PayPal account.
"By integrating PayPal into CorFire, merchants can accomplish two objectives: develop and manage their own mobile app while benefiting from the security and ease-of-use that PayPal offers, and leverage PayPal's mobile apps to reach millions of consumers," says Hill Ferguson, vice president of global product at PayPal, in the press release.
The new partnership may provide more leverage for CorFire in its recent expansion into Europe. In November, CorFire opened a London office.
CorFire moved into the U.S. market in 2011 with a partnership with InComm Inc. to provide merchants with a branded mobile commerce platform, including a mobile wallet with coupons and rewards programs.
