India's Corporation Bank announced Thursday it is collaborating with ElectraCard Services for establishing its ATM tax service. "The tax-payment service is now available to our customers," a bank spokesperson tells CardLine Global. "We are currently the only bank in India allowing the payment of income tax at an ATM." Last month, Corporation Bank announced it was going to provide the tax-payment services for its customers throughout the bank's ATM network (CardLine Global, 19 Aug.). When customers pay income taxes at the ATM, ElectraCard's system authenticates the PIN and retrieves tax details from the bank's server. "The system will then send the tax-payment transaction with the tax amount entered by the customer, and this amount will be debited to the customer's account," the spokesperson says. "The customer will get a receipt with the transaction details, which he can furnish to the income tax department." The bank has 1,000 ATMs, according to the spokesperson. ElectraCard Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of Opus Software Solutions, provides third-party processing services for credit and payments management worldwide.
