Japanese mobile app provider Line Corp. will use CyberSource's e-commerce payment services to expand the Line Pay mobile payment service by supporting more payment options.

The partnership with CyberSource, a Visa Inc. subsidiary, will allow Line to process online payments from multiple card brands and issuers, as well as some alternative payment methods.

"With global smartphone penetration per capita expected to increase more than three times by 2017 from that in 2011, we recognize that there is great opportunity for growth in the mobile industry," Takeshi Idezawa, chief operating officer of Line Corp. stated in a press release. "We are constantly looking to work with partners with an established worldwide presence and vast experience so that we can provide quality service to today's digitally savvy consumers."

The CyberSource payment management platform will also provide fraud management services for Line Pay through the Decision Manager tool, which features a fraud detection radar.

CyberSource provides fraud management for various e-commerce businesses, recently deploying it in the travel industry through a partnership with Amadeus.

Line Corp.'s Internet and mobile messaging service has grown across 230 countries and regions since 2011, with 181 million monthly active users as of January 2015, the release stated.
