E*Trade Financial Corp.’s securities unit has introduced mobile deposit for the Apple Inc. iPhone, the company anounced Dec. 5.
Customers may use the feature to deposit checks electronically to their brokerage or E*Trade Bank accounts remotely. The company plans to roll out the same capability for smartphones that use Google Inc’s Android operating system later this year.
“Investors are increasingly managing their day-to-day and long-term financial plans via handheld devices, and we believe our new mobile deposit capability will be well-received by customers and prospects given the added convenience,” Michael Curcio, president of E*Trade Securities LLC, said in a news release. “E*Trade is focused on delivering the tools, support and technology that enable customers to more easily manage their money.”
