A bank in the United Arab Emirates reportedly soon plans to launch a credit card designed for use exclusively online at Jordan-based Aramex Ltd.’s Shop&Ship service.

First Gulf Bank Ltd. of Abu Dhabi will showcase the First Gulf Bank Internet Credit Card at a local exhibition to be held on Sept. 21to 22 in Abu Dhabi, according to Zawya, a company that focuses on the developing business and investment environments in the Middle East.

To prevent use at ATMs, the card has no magnetic stripe. It also is not embossed. Instead, the card requires cardholders to enter a personalized password before the payment stage for each online transaction, according to the bank. First Gulf will send cardholders text-message alerts to acknowledge use of the card.

Cardholders receive free access to Aramex’s Shop&Ship service, enabling them to have their purchases made online delivered to their homes.

The bank has not yet disclosed the fees associated with the card.
