Epay, a prepaid product provider and distribution network, is now offering its digital gift card through PayPal's Digital Gift store, which launched in early December.
Epay, a division of Euronet Worldwide Inc., has a network of about 636,000 point of sale systems at about 291,000 retailer locations.
The agreement allows PayPal users in the U.S., Germany and the U.K. to select digital gift codes to purchase with the funds in their PayPal account. The digital gift is then immediately available to send via email as a gift or to use personally.
"Our strong relationships with leading global brands and our extensive global presence, together with our recent launches of similar solutions, position epay as a leader in digital gift card technology," says Kevin Caponecchi, president of Euronet Worldwide, in a Dec. 17 press release. "We look forward to extending our relationship with PayPal to include more digital gift card brands in more countries in the coming months."
Epay also works in France, Italy, Poland, Greece, Romania, Russia, Turkey, India, Spain, Brazil, Australia, New Zealand, China and the United Arab Emirates.
Digital gift cards are becoming an increasing popular product, even when they are not gifted.
Gyft, a mobile gift card provider, recently began carving a niche in the Bitcoin community by allowing consumers to purchase gift cards with the digital currency for their personal use. It also offers bigger rewards for using alternative funding sources such as PayPal accounts.
