Unifund has named Robert Schofield as its new vice president, Strategic Alliances.
Schofield will be responsible for developing and managing a contact service network for the Cincinnati, Ohio-based debt buyer. That network will complement the firm's existing legal platform and sales network, according to company officials.
Schofield spent the past nine years with Fourscore Resource Capital, serving as chief financial officer and then chief operating officer the past six years. He is a member of DBA International and currently is chairman of the Asset Buyers Division of ACA International.
“Bob’s unique background is well suited to analyze, formulate, manage and build business relationships that complement Unifund's strategic growth plan," said Jason Kaster, chief operating officer at Unifund. "This plan has focused on expanding our legal recovery network, adding a recovery platform and purchasing alternative asset classes that will expand Unifund's core capabilities.
"We saw it as a key evolutionary component to our relationships with creditors and debt buyers in the changing environment," Kaster added.
Unifund was founded in 1986. It is one of the largest purchasers in the debt-buying industry based on revenue, according to Collections & Credit Risk, and also operates a legal collection and sales network.
