Jul. 22--BELLEVILLE -- The first of two payments on 2007 St. Clair County property tax bills are due in Treasurer Charles Suarez's off by 5 p.m. Wednesday, with the second round of payments due Sept. 3.
Tax bills for Madison County property owners were mailed out in late May and early June. The first installment of those bills was due July 8, with the second round of payments due Sept. 8, according to Madison County Treasurer Fred Bathon.
St. Clair County taxpayers can pay their bills by cash, check or money order, either by mail, in person or at most banks in the county. To find out more about St. Clair County taxes, call 825-2707.
Credit card payments (VISA, MasterCard, Discover and American Express) may be made online at www.co.st-clair.il.us or by calling 877-455-3729. A convenience charge will be applied. The treasurer's office does not accept credit card payments at the office.
For the first time, St. Clair County taxpayers can pay through an electronic check service. E-Check payments can be made online at www.co.st-clair.il.us/tax.htm. A charge of $1.40 will be applied.
In Madison County, property tax bills may be paid in person or by mail, or at Madison County banks.
Other options include scheduled and immediate withdrawals from your bank account, a monthly payment plan, through a senior citizen deferral plan or by credit card (Discover, American Express, Visa and MasterCard), by telephone or over the Internet.
