G-Xchange Inc., a wholly owned mobile-commerce subsidiary of Globe Telecom Ltd., is partnering with mobile-payments provider Boku Inc., an official from Manila-based telecommunication company Globe Telecom tells PaymentsSource.
The deal will enable Globe Telecom subscribers to use G-Xchange’s Gcash, a mobile wallet, to make purchases on international gaming, entertainment and social sites that are part of Boku’s global merchant network, according to a statement from Globe Telecom.
“With this deal, Gcash subscribers can, for instance, buy Farmville Cash in Facebook by using the Paymo option,” says the Globe Telecom official.
When using Gcash in the Farmville game, the Paymo platform prompts the subscriber to key in his Gcash-registered mobile number and Gcash PIN for verification at the checkout page on the Farmville game site, according to the official. Paymo then the processes the payment and transfers the purchased credits to the subscriber’s Farmville account, for example.
Boku links its Paymo brand to such online games Mafia Wars, Café World and Farmville.
