United States-based terminal vendor Hypercom Corp. Thursday announced its health care terminal passed function tests required by Gematik, a German health care organization. The MedCompact terminal is designed for doctor's offices and hospitals, and Hypercom expects them to begin deploying the terminal in the second half of this year as the country migrates to a new health card, Hypercom notes in a statement. A company spokesperson tells CardLine Global there is potential in the next three years for 900,000 terminals to be deployed by health card terminal vendors. "We hope to get a significant share of that," the spokesperson says. The terminal will process the current German health-insurance card and the new electronic health care card. Hypercom launched the device in test regions earlier this year, the company says in a statement.
