Payment processor Heartland Payment Systems Inc. and global payment provider Computop have agreed to integrate their platforms to provide international payment processing.
Through a non-exclusive collaboration, Heartland says its Portico Gateway will integrate with Computop Paygate to provide international payment software and fraud prevention, specifically to allow Heartland's U.S. e-commerce customers to expand into new international markets.
Computop's functionality and security, combined with its various domestic and international payment methods, were key reasons that Heartland chose to work with the company, Joe Wysocki, senior director of e-commerce for Heartland, stated in a March 14 press release.
The offerings for Latin America, Europe and the Asia-Pacific regions will serve Heartland customers well as they expand businesses internationally, Wysocki said.
"They can rest assured that their global payments processing needs can be easily satisfied through this collaboration with Computop," he added.
Heartland expects to speed up the expansion process for e-commerce merchants through this collaboration because Computop Paygate has prebuilt integration cartridges available for leading enterprise resource planning and shopping systems.
The system will provide currency conversion and fraud screening designed to reduce cart abandonment on e-commerce sites. It can also display prices in local currencies, Heartland said.
Heartland has remained active in fleshing out its technology prior to its move to become part of Global Payments, which announced in December that it would purchase Heartland, a process it aims to complete soon.
