Heartland Payment Systems Inc. on Sept. 1 announced it has entered a $5 million agreement with Discover Financial Services to settle claims stemming from the 2008 security breach of the Princeton, N.J.-based company’s processing systems.

The settlement resolves all issues related to the intrusion, Heartland says.

“This settlement marks our final agreement with a card brand related to the intrusion,” Bob Carr, Heartland’s chairman and chief executive officer, said in a statement.

Heartland previously reached similar settlements with MasterCard Worldwide, Visa Inc. and American Express Co. for the breach, which it reported early last year (see story).
