Prepaid product and transaction services company InComm has launched a platform for mobile payments and commerce.

Called InComm Mobile Platform (IMP), the technology integrates with merchant and issuer systems to enable Near Field Communication-based mobile payments at the point of sale. The platform also allows InComm to develop and host mobile apps for merchants and wallet providers.

IMP acts as a hub for inbound and outbound messaging requests connected to the prepaid products in a mobile wallet. It connects to InComm's internal systems and InComm's partners to enable switching and processing transactions such as card provisioning, reloads, buying and selling digital cards and other functions. The platform also provides reporting for billing, reconciliation and customer analytics.

InComm additionally manages the balances and transactions for card accounts, enabling prepaid card account creation, balance queries, transaction histories and fraud management.

"As more consumers globally continue to adopt smartphone features and applications for a variety of everyday activities, mobile payment applications are becoming more prevalent, enabling individuals to easily pay for goods and services through the use of their devices," says Frank Monaco, executive vice president and general manager of international at InComm, in a May 20 press release.

Rogers, the Canadian telecommunications and media company, is the first to use IMP as part of its suretap wallet, an initiative that also includes CIBC and MasterCard as partners.

InComm also recently opened a gift card store and introduced bar code-based loyalty technology.
