Prepaid card service provider InComm has launched a new product that enables payment companies to deliver loyalty, mobile wallet and coupons without a reliance on hardware.

Called Cashtie Cloud Match Service, the product makes an application programming interface (API) available to marketing, mobile wallet and digital coupon providers to extend payments or special offers with less integration work at a retailer’s point of sale.

InComm's software displays bar codes to display on a mobile device's screen to initiate transactions.

A consumer uses the program through a mobile app connected to a coupon, payment or loyalty account. When the bar code is scanned at the point of sale, the Cashtie Cloud Match Service receives data for the transaction and helps match the data with the retailer and the consumer.

Providers use Cashtie by signing up for the API.

Rewards and coupons are being used by payment companies to build support for mobile commerce. Starbucks, which is actively tying mobile payments to discounts, also relies on bar codes to accept mobile payments at its stores.
