Ingenico SA plans to provide wireless terminals for more than 500 retail stores throughout the Canary Islands to support consumers using the Cajasiete Sincontacto contactless card, the French terminal maker announced March 30.

More than 5,000 clients of Cajasiete, a credit union serving the agriculture industry of the Canary Islands off the coast of Spain, will be able to use the Visa-branded contactless debit card at Ingenico iWL220 terminals, Ingenico stated in a press release.

To start the project, Cajasiete plans to install 645 of the compact Ingenico terminals equipped with swipe, chip and contactless readers in April, Ingenico said.

Cajasiete intends to provide Sincontacto cards to more clients and Ingenico terminals to more stores over the next few months, Ingenico stated.

The terminals comply with Payment Card Industry data security standards for contact and contactless transactions, the company noted.
