French terminal maker Ingenico SA is working with iMobile3 LLC to promote mobile retail payments through a collaboration called iMRP.
The companies will provide consulting and support around a range of products designed to help merchants develop mobile-payment strategies. Ingenico announced Jan. 11 that it is working with iMobile3 of Jacksonville, Fla., to place consultants inside retailers.
"It's not as if we are going to start billing [retailers] for hours; it's not about that," Greg Burch, Ingenico director of business development for the Americas, said in a Jan. 13 phone interview. "We will sit down and just start working around a mobile strategy and figure out what components make sense for them."
In addition, Cupertino, Calif.-based Voltage Security Inc. announced it will team with Ingenico to present advanced encryption-security software in the Ingenico Telium series payment terminals Jan. 16 and 17 at the annual National Retail Federation Big Show in New York.
Voltage SecureData Payments software supports data encryption for card-present and card-not-present transactions for merchants of all sizes, Voltage Security stated in a Jan. 13 press release.
Ingenico Telium payment terminals include countertop, multi-lane, PIN pad and mobile models, making it possible for the new security software to protect point-of-sale merchants of all sizes, the press release stated.
With an application update, Ingenico will also be able to offer Voltage SecureData Payments data protection to existing customers that already use Telium devices, the company stated.
The combined technologies ensure transmitted swiped or hand-keyed payment data are encrypted immediately at the point of sale, the release noted.
"The Ingenico-Voltage partnership was an obvious choice," Greg Boardman, senior vice president of Products & Development, Ingenico North America, said in the release.
"Voltage has gained significant adoption of its end-to-end data protection solution in the market, and remains a leading innovator,” he added.
