Ingenico SA's partnership with mobile commerce software provider Starmount will allow the terminal maker to provide U.S. merchants with information needed to complete sales in any part of their stores.
Ingenico has certified Starmount's omni-channel software to operate on the Ingenico iSMP mobile payment device, which uses Bluetooth technology to operate with iPods and iPhones as well as Android and Windows-based tablets and smartphones, Paris-based Ingenico announced Jan. 9. The Ingenico iSMP reader also supports EMV-chip cards.
Austin-based Starmount's Connect software allows sales clerks to access product information from the Web or through the merchant's back-end system.
Starmount's Engage software provides clerks with product details, ratings and reviews and cross-channel inventory visibility. It also provides transaction capabilities to complete a sale at the customer's side.
"Now U.S. retailers can use the mobile EMV-ready solution to eliminate lines and/or expedite checkout by transacting sales and accepting returns anywhere in the store," Greg Davis, vice president of product management at Starmount, states in the release.
As part of the partnership, Starmount will also introduce its software with Ingenico terminals in the U.K.
Retailers using Starmount's mobile commerce software include Pep Boys, Urban Outfitters and Perry Ellis.
