Users of Facebook's social image sharing network Instagram are getting more access to one-click purchases directly from the app through new integrations this week with Shopify and Bigcommerce.
Shopify on Tuesday said it’s testing a capability enabling thousands of e-commerce merchants to add a purchase option to any Instagram post so that users can buy them without leaving the social media app. Shopify already supports direct purchases within apps for other Facebook-owned channels including Facebook and Messenger.
Separately, Bigcommerce on Monday enabled its merchants to connect their online stores to Instagram. E-commerce merchants already using Bigcommerce may send products to Instagram with just a few clicks and feature up to five items and their prices in any single photo. Tapping on a photo reveals detailed descriptions about the product. Bigcommerce’s sales platform also supports e-commerce merchants using eBay, Amazon, Facebook and Google.
Instagram has 800 million monthly users and 2 million advertisers.
