CHICAGO — Isis is seeking independent sales organizations to promote mobile payments to merchants in a test of its mobile wallet this year in Salt Lake City and Austin, Texas.
The consortium of several large banks, telecommunication carriers and the four major payment networks, already is working through ISOs in those cities and would like to add more, Tony Abruzzio, an Isis business development executive, told attendees here last week at the Midwest Acquirers Association 10th Annual Conference.
Isis wants ISOs that already have relationships with merchants in those two cities, he added.
Consumers are expressing enthusiasm for mobile wallets, which will become an integral part of the nation's smartphones, Abruzzio told attendees.
He compared smartphones with Swiss Army knives because both serve multiple purposes, which for smartphones include finding restaurants, getting directions and playing games.
"It's not hard to imagine payments becoming part of that," Abruzzio said.
