A Romanian couple both received prison sentences at Wexford District Court on Monday last on charges of using stolen or skimmed credit cards.
     Marius Curelaru, 116 Cabra Park, Cabra, Dublin 7, and Roxana Manolache, 39 Willow Wood Lawn, Hartstown, Dublin 15, were both charged with making gain or causing loss by deception and handling stolen property at Power Plant Hire on June 9. Marius Curelaru was also charged with using a cloned credit card to get a digital camera valued at €999 from Sam McCauleys.
     When both defendants were arrested at Power Plant Hire further credit cards, which were cloned in a different jurisdiction, were found in the Garda patrol car.
     The court heard that Roxana Manolache is currently serving a five-month prison sentence for a similar offence which happened in Roscommon. The defendant is a partner of Marius Curelaru and has just discovered she is pregnant. In her case Judge O Buachalla imposed a four-month prison sentence to run consecutive to the five months she is already serving.
     In the case of Marius Curelaru, the court was told that he normally resides in Italy, had another child and is estranged from his wife. In his case Judge O Buachalla imposed a six-month term of imprisonment.
