Malaysia’s CIMB Bank Bhd. and telecommunications company Celcom Axiata Bhd. have formed a partnership to speed up how quickly the telco’s customers can pay their mobile bills, according to the Kuala Lumpur-based bank
Launched this week, the service enables Celcom Axiata customers to pay their cellular bills online immediately through the bank’s website without having to wait the usual one day for the payment to process, the bank notes in a statement. Such delays typically occur when consumers initiate payment using third parties instead of over the counter at a Celcom branch, a customer-service agent tells PaymentsSource.
“We believe this initiative will provide them the convenience of making payment at the nick of time via CIMB Clicks,” Datuk Seri Shazalli Ramly, Celcom CEO, said in the statement. CIMB Clicks is the name of the bank’s online-payment service.
With more than 10.1 million users on its network, Celcom Axiata is one of the largest telcos in Malaysia and the region.
CIMB is the commercial-banking arm of CIMB Group and has more than 4.7 million customers in Malaysia. It has a countrywide network of 366 branches and deploys more than 2,100 ATMs.
