Land O'Lakes, the second largest agricultural co-operative in the U.S., is adopting BillTrust's electronic billing services as an alternative to paper invoices.
"eBilling is clearly the wave of the future," says Barry Libenson, chief information officer at Land O'Lakes, in an April 4 press release. "Our legacy system, however, wasn't equipped to handle online billing. We began to seek out a partner who could supply a top quality online billing portal and related support service, all in a cost-effective cloud solution."
Land O'Lakes, which has more than 900 member-cooperatives and nearly 4,000 direct producer-members, was struggling to keep up with the hundreds of thousands of paper invoices it was sending out each month.
With Billtrust's private-labeled Electronic Invoice Presentment and Payment, the Twin Cities-based company has cut down on the expense of printing and mailing paper statements.
For mailed statements, Billtrust has nine facilities, located across the country to provide fast bill delivery to nearby recipients, says Libenson.
"As much as we would like to move 100% to eBilling, there will always be accounts that prefer mailed statements," Libenson says.
In mid-March, Billtrust announced it would add quick-response (QR) codes to its paper bills to try and move more consumers online.
