Taco Bueno, a Farmers Branch, Texas-based chain of 180 quick-service Mexican restaurants, now accepts MasterCard PayPass in most of its locations, Taco Bueno Restaurants LP and MasterCard Worldwide announced today. Taco Bueno is accepting PayPass at the 161 locations the corporation owns and operates but not necessarily at the remaining franchise locations. The chain joins more than 122,000 merchant locations accepting any of the nearly 37 million PayPass cards in circulation as of the end of June, according to MasterCard. MasterCard promotes acceptance of its contactless cards at stores, restaurants and unattended vending machines, where consumers usually pay with cash for purchases of low value. In January, MasterCard announced it had signed the Paradies Shops, a chain of 500 stores in U.S. and Canadian airports. Other retailers that began accepting PayPass last year include Petco and Office Depot. Affiliated Computer Services Inc., which enables cashless payments at more than 20 airport parking areas in the United States, also began supporting PayPass payments last year.
