Mocapay and Merchant Link are partnering to offer a bundle of mobile payments services that includes data-driven security and loyalty programs, both areas that have held back merchant uptake in the past.
Through this partnership, Merchant Link will expand its product offerings by leveraging Mocapay's marketing processing technology that is meant to ensure payment and transaction security, a Nov. 11 press release said.
As part of this alliance, Merchant Link clients will be able to accept transactions from any mobile device. Furthermore, consumers can interact through a merchant's mobile application to make credit card purchases, redeem gift cards, participate in loyalty programs and take advantage of merchant promotions.
Merchant Link is a cloud-based payment gateway provider that enables approximately 5 billion transactions annually for more than 300,000 restaurants, hotel and retail stores.
"This relationship will give Merchant Link an entirely new product set to offer its existing client base while expanding Mocapay's reach in hospitality," Doug Dwyre, chief executive officer of Mocapay, said in the release.
Most mobile pay initiatives such as Apple Pay are making security part of their positioning, particularly in the wake of recent data breaches at merchant chains. And loyalty is considered a key component of winning merchant and consumer adoption for mobile payment initiatives.
