Mozido LLC’s partnership with Mumbai-based Tata Consultancy Services expands the market for Mozido’s digital-wallet platform and gives Tata Consultancy Services another mobile platform to combine with its proprietary products.

The companies announced their partnership on April 30.

Dallas-based Mozido is a provider of white-label, cloud-based, multichannel financial services for mobile-network operators, retailers and financial institutions. Its wallet platform can combine with Tata Consultancy’s mobile point-of-sale-system and Rewardz, Tata Consultancy’s loyalty platform.

Enhanced by Rewardz, Mozido Mobile Wallet will offer a menu of transaction options that includes bill payment, remittances, mobile top-up and payroll deposit. It also will provide immediate discount offers and redemptions and targeted analytics derived from customer transaction behavior, the announcement said.

Start-ups such as Mozido like working with cloud-based processing because of its operational flexibility, Aite Group senior analyst Rick Oglesby tells PaymentsSource. Companies can control available data very easily, and they can do a whole lot of value-added things to enhance data-delivering services, he says.

“(The cloud) is going to evolve a lot, and that’s one of the foundational components of it,’ Ogelsby says. “You can evolve into different directions.”

Mobile loyalty programs thatenable retailers to send coupons to smartphones while in stores, and building a mobile-centric database for better customer service, also are relatively new, Richard Braddock, Mozido chairman, tells PaymentsSource.

“It’s a fundamental need (retailers) have in today’s world,” he says.

Tata Consultancy’s 42-country presence and sales network provides Mozido an immediate global presence and a credibility boost, says Braddock.
