My Clear Reports Inc. is adding a mobile application to the virtual business center it offers to merchants and independent sales organizations.

Through the virtual business center, clients can access their daily and monthly transaction information in real time, and choose from a host of partner-enabled services and products including cash advances, prepaid corporate cards, PCI compliance questionnaires and IRS reporting.

Its new product, MCR Mobile, was announced last week and will be available by yearend. It will allow clients to see all reporting data from an Apple or Android phone or tablet, and request cash advances.

"What we do is we continue to communicate with the merchants," says David Allen, MCR's executive vice president. "The average merchant would log onto MCR on a daily basis at least once, if not more. It is constantly presented to them that there are these revenue-producing, attrition-reducing opportunities for them to participate in."

More services and products offered online will be available on the mobile application in the future.

Aite Group senior analyst Rick Oglesby says the data and services provided by companies like MCR are important especially for small businesses, and that the mobile application is simply the way of the world now.

"Reporting solutions in general are useful for merchants of any size but this one just containing the payment data is more of a solution for smaller merchants," Oglesby says. Larger merchants typically have a more advanced infrastructure, he says.

For small merchants, "the mobile app makes it a little more user friendly, a little easier to access, a little more streamlined," Oglesby says.
