A new loyalty feature in NCR Corp.'s Silver point of sale system for iPads aims to help small businesses develop and manage customer rewards programs.

The NCR Silver system now tracks the rewards customers earn with each sale, allowing merchants to forgo the use of paper punch cards, according to the company’s March 5 press release. The loyalty program complements NCR Silver’s customer history, email marketing and inventory and reporting features, according to the release.

NCR Corp., based in Duluth, Ga., provides a range of technology including point of sale terminals, ATMs and retail software. The company has moved to expand its focus on banking software in recent months, building on its purchases of online and mobile banking software firm Digital Insight Corp. and Alaric Systems, which specializes in fraud prevention and secure transaction software.
